Should You Unlock Your Cellphone?

Unlock-cell-phoneUnlocking your cell phone is very useful if you travel frequently or need to regularly switch cellular network providers for some other reason. The actual process of unlocking your phone is actually quite simple. If a phone is locked, this means that the network provider has placed code in the software that prevents the device from being used on another network. There is no real limitation in the device itself, but rather a restriction.

This software code can be removed by entering an unlock code that will liberate the device, allowing it to access any other network. For instance, if you have just recently purchased a GSM network LG phone, simply find a website that provides LG unlock codes, remove the restrictions, and you are free to use your phone on any other GSM network.

Note that this method will only work if you are using a GSM network phone. Network providers that use CDMA technology, such as Verizon and Sprint, will have to unlock your phone for you. They will usually agree to do this if you meet certain criteria. Some newer Verizon phones that use 4G technology are unlocked by default, due to restrictions placed by the FCC. However, older 3G Verizon phones are almost always locked. For more information about unlocking your LG phone, be sure to visit Unlock That Phone.

Lumia Sales On The Rise

After a bit of rough times it seems things are finally looking up for Nokia and the Windows Phone platform in general. According to The Wall Street Journal, the company managed to sell “at least eight million” Windows Phone devices between July and September this year.

On its own, that number hardly seems impressive (Apple sold nine million iPhone 5s/5c combined over the launch weekend). Still, when you compare it with the previous numbers there is definite improvement. For example, Nokia managed to sell 7.4 million devices the quarter before, and last year it sold just 2.9 million devices in the same quarter.

Things would be getting even better now, with Nokia on the brink of announcing new Lumia devices during its event tomorrow at Abu Dhabi. Let’s see how they do in the next quarter, then.

Emerging Mobile Marketing Trends To Watch

Marketing through mobile technology changes so quickly. There are constantly new ideas, but mobile apps seem to be one technology that is not going away any time soon.  Innovative companies such as are paving the way for mobile apps designed for enterprise events and conferences.

If you want your business to succeed, you have to get involved in mobile marketing.

These are four trends worth pursuing:

Bidding in Real Time

You need to know your audience and you need to know what audience will help your company succeed. If you have a group of users who do not help your business, why carry that dead weight around? Apple has created an advertising identifier to help you get the best targets for your investment and the app also helps you bid in real time so that advertisers can make sure they are spending their money appropriately, too. Return on investment (ROI) is important for all businesses involved in targeting and bidding.

Track, for Real

Whether or not tracking continues to be a hot topic of debate is a moot point, because tracking really does work. When you can follow your mobile campaigns and see what is working, you will have a better return on your investment and a better understanding of what makes your customers tick. Why waste money when you are in the business to make money. Tracking is vital to optimize your marketing expenses. As tracking becomes less of an open debate and more acceptable, there will be more apps and tracking programs available for business owners.

Use Data

When you get down to the nitty-gritty of data, step back and turn to BIG DATA. Any big data that you can use will help you get more in tune with your customers. Mobile apps collect big data and when you harness it, you can watch your business grow. You can personalize your campaigns, connect with your clients, and start watching the dollars roll in. Data shows performance and it allows business owners to make big decisions, because they can see what works in their own business and in the businesses of others. With the Internet, the amount of data is practically endless and your creativity is the only thing that can hold you back from using that data to create something bigger!

Smartphone Behavior Grows

As with all technology, as it becomes more accessible, it becomes less expensive. This means that tablets, smartphones, and other small mobile device usage will grow as time goes on. This means that you and all of the other business owners will have even more opportunities to get your customers engaged with mobile technology. You need to get busy learning how everything works and how you can tap into the demographics that are growing in mobile apps.

Whether you decide to use mobile apps for advertising purposes, you create mobile apps as a business, or you would like to connect a mobile app to your business, the business of mobile technology is not slowing down and if you are not engaging your business in mobile technology, you are losing out on a big market share.

Waterproofing Your Smartphone

iphone_waterSmartphones have many uses but one thing that they cannot do is withstand water damage. Being that we live in the 21st century, we take our phones everywhere with us, including into the bathroom and anywhere that there is water. Until a company decides to release a waterproof phone, the least that you can do is make sure that you have a case that protects it against water damage. If you don’t, you might soon be searching for iphone repair services.  There are currently three different waterproof cases that we like called the LifeProof case, Otterbox Armor and the Dry Case.

Luckily, all three of these do work but each of them is created for a different kind of user.  There is a case which tends to be more for those who are constantly outdoors and for those who want to keep small things away from their phone such as sand. The LifeProof case has the most convenient sized, and this is one that you can utilize every day. This company gives users the ability to pick from cases for the iPhone 4 through 5 and also for iPads. These are not cheap but they are very effective, and they do not add any bulk to the weight of the phone.

The Disadvantage

The only con to a thick phone case is having difficulty plugging in headphones or a USB cable. You would need an adapter to connect your headphones with the LifeProof case. This is a case that will allow you to take your phone under 6-7 feet of water for a total of thirty minutes. This can also survive a 6.6-foot drop if it falls out of your hands accidentally.

The installation of this case is extremely easy, and it comes in two separate parts. There is a front half that has a plastic screen protector as well as a back half. After you put your phone through the front half of it, attach the back and secure it by snapping the cover with your thumb.

The next case that we will talk about is the Otterbox Armor series which costs approximately $100.00, and it is the most expensive out of all three case protectors. This is a beast of a case weighing in at 4.23 Oz.

This is similar to the LifeProof because it can be merged into 6.6 feet of water, and that will last up to 30 minutes. The difference is that the Otterbox can survive a 10 ft. drop and two tons of pressure on it without breaking.

The Case

The case is made of silicone and plastic. There is a metal latch on the right side to lock the front and to hold the back into place. There are also protective caps for the power connector and the headphone jack. This has a wide opening so that you can put your headphones in without needing to buy an adapter. This is the best for those who tend to be really hard on their phone or for those who have construction jobs.

The last one is that dry case which is quite universal. This will work with other devices and can go up to 100 ft deep in water. This is the cheapest costing $40.00. This dry case consists of a vinyl pouch, and at the bottom of the pouch has a valve through which one can attach the hand pump in order to suck out all the air from the bag. This isn’t the most “elegant” solution. Unfortunately, this one is not very comfortable to swim with, but it is a cheap way to keep your phone dry and sand-free.
