These are not cheap but they are very effective, and they do not add any bulk to the weight of the phone.

The Disadvantage

The only con to a thick phone case is having difficulty plugging in headphones or a USB cable. You would need an adapter to connect your headphones with the LifeProof case. This is a case that will allow you to take your phone under 6-7 feet of water for a total of thirty minutes. This can also survive a 6.6-foot drop if it falls out of your hands accidentally.

The installation of this case is extremely easy, and it comes in two separate parts. There is a front half that has a plastic screen protector as well as a back half. After you put your phone through the front half of it, attach the back and secure it by snapping the cover with your thumb.

The next case that we will talk about is the Otterbox Armor series which costs approximately $100.00, and it is the most expensive out of all three case protectors. This is a beast of a case weighing in at 4.23 Oz.

This is similar to the LifeProof because it can be merged into 6.6 feet of water, and that will last up to 30 minutes. The difference is that the Otterbox can survive a 10 ft. drop and two tons of pressure on it without breaking.

The Case

The case is made of silicone and plastic. There is a metal latch on the right side to lock the front and to hold the back into place. There are also protective caps for the power connector and the headphone jack. This has a wide opening so that you can put your headphones in without needing to buy an adapter. This is the best for those who tend to be really hard on their phone or for those who have construction jobs.

The last one is that dry case which is quite universal. This will work with other devices and can go up to 100 ft deep in water. This is the cheapest costing $40.00. This dry case consists of a vinyl pouch, and at the bottom of the pouch has a valve through which one can attach the hand pump in order to suck out all the air from the bag. This isn’t the most “elegant” solution. Unfortunately, this one is not very comfortable to swim with, but it is a cheap way to keep your phone dry and sand-free.
